LinkedIn: Your Ticket to a Steady Stream of High-Paying Clients
For loads of business owners (you’re so not alone!), Linkedin feels like a struggle.
Using the platform expertly eludes most entrepreneurs, who liken it to Facebook or Instagram. (Different platforms, different tactics, sorry).
If you’re wondering why you’re not getting outrageously awesome results — which is absolutely realistic and doable, by the way — I’m here to tell you there are things you can be doing right now to make a difference.
And these things can be done in a 1/2 hour, a couple times a week.
Instead of treading water in the Linkedin sea, it’s time to adopt a strategy that brings in more leads, more high-paying clients, and more business.
So here it is.
Your guide to making sure your Linkedin efforts are working for you, and not the other way around.

Follow this guide, and you’ll find Linkedin can be an extremely effective tool for attracting new premium accounts and multiplying your business.
It’s time to jumpstart the lead-generating machine…
1. Attract High-Paying Clients with Your Linkedin Profile
You know the saying:
“You never have a second chance to make a first impression”
And so it is on social media.
You need to employ your profile page to showcase your Super Power and your expertise, front and center.
Make it easy for viewers of your page to see what you do, who you are, and what makes you special.
Things you MUST do on your profile page to attract high-paying clients:
- Use your cover photo as real estate to pitch your service. Use text to highlight your offer, your expertise, and your call to action (see an example on my Linkedin page here).
- Create a headline that stands out from the rest. Don’t be just another “Business Coach” or “Marketing Manager” (there are thousands of others). Instead, put this formula to use:
Target Audience + What You Do + How It Solves Their Big Problem
So, for example:
Helping Restaurant Owners Hire Smart and Conquer Costly Employee Turnover
– OR –
Giving Online Florists the Tools They Need for 7-Figure E-Commerce Sales
- Include your call to action in your profile content. Use the 2,000 character space to explain who you are, who you help, and how someone can get started. Don’t forget to include a link to your contact page, landing page, or website.
Remember, it behooves you to get hyper-focused on what you offer.
Let your target community of viewers know immediately that they’re in the right place, with someone who knows exactly what they’re going through, and how to help.
2. Join (and Participate In!) Linkedin Groups
First, take a couple minutes to think about your ideal clients’ job titles.
Do you help Dental Assistants, Winemakers, Sociology Professors, or Content Writers?
…then search Linkedin for groups related to those words.
When you join the right groups — groups where your clients are already spending time, looking for information, engaging with other users — your chance of reaching a highly-targeted and concentrated group of those high-paying clients you want skyrockets.
Once you’ve joined these specialized LinkedIn groups, start answering questions from users. Do this for a couple minutes each time you login. Make your replies interesting, thoughtful and valuable.
Delivering exceptional content and engaging with group members quickly establishes your expertise to your target audience. When they need more help, they’ll know who to come to (it’s YOU!).
3. Connect Immediately with People on Linkedin After Meeting Them in Person
You just met a handful of potential leads at a big industry conference in LA (yahoo!).
To not appear too eager, you decide to hold off on reaching out for two weeks.
During that time, these leads met other vendors/participants/speakers at the conference.
It was a whirlwind of hundreds of people mingling, shaking hands, exchanging business cards.
And now, when you reach out two weeks later…crickets.
It pays off to connect while you’re still fresh in people’s minds. A timely and simple message with “Hey, it was nice to meet you at ________. Looking forward to staying in touch!” goes a long way.
Take the couple minutes to open your Linkedin app, write a quick message, and make the connection.
5. Add New Linkedin Connections Every Day
Use LinkedIn’s search function to find your perfect prospects. Then send them a personalized connection request.
Most will accept – expect between 30% – 50% to convert to a connection.
Do not send too many in one day.
Once you make connections with people, begin to engage with their content so that you become more visible to them.
You can do this by:
- Commenting on content they have shared
- Liking a post they have created
- Messaging them about their profile or posted content
Enagement is the name of them came to move you from audience to leads to clients. People notice you when you take the time to notice them first and then continuously add value.
5. Message Your New Linkedin Connections
Now that you’ve connected with your new leads, it’s time to follow through.
Remember, your job is to let leads know how you can help solve their big problem.
- Send a quick check-in with a link to an article they might find helpful.
- Give an industry update related to their business.
- Invite them to your next webinar, where you’ll be covering X,Y and Z.
This is where most businesses fall short — not following through after the connection has been made.
Don’t make this mistake.
Connecting is simply Step #1. Now that you have their ear, it’s up to you to show your experience and know-how by sending relevant and useful info.
6. Write Recommendations for Others
It doesn’t take much to write a quick recommendation for a client, partner or lead, and a little goes a long way.
Make sure your recommendations are personal and accurate. No generic templates here.
But they don’t have to be long, either.
Share a story, call out a strength, make a specific recommendation.
“I hands-down recommend _________ for public speaking. She’s above-and-beyond engaging and energetic, and brings great take-aways for attendees. She’ll make your next HR or corporate event one to remember!”
The majority of the time, they’ll reciprocate.
And when new viewers come to your page, they’ll have access to all your testimonials from other connections on Linkedin. This type of social proof is lead-generating gold.
You can talk about your book/guide/program/services all day, but success stories and reviews from peers are what push potential clients from “Hmmm, maybe….” to “Where do I sign up?”
7. Post Valuable Content Consistently Targeted at the High-Paying Clients You Want
Post high-quality, valuable content daily.
This keeps you in front of your audience, making them more likely to remember you when they have a problem you can solve.
Plus, they can share your content to expose you to an even wider audience with more opportunities.
Posting great content consistently provides more value to all of the people who view your profile.
It also deepens your relationships with your audience, and demonstratest to people a taste of your expertise BEFORE they hire you.
To effectively convert anyone who views your content into a lead and eventual client, be sure to include a call to action to download your lead magnet so you can get them on your email list and continue to market to them.
